"red diamonds"

RED DIAMONDS

Thursday was a big day for Emma! She has been begging us to take her to the mall to get her ears pierced. All of a sudden she has been so into having her ears pierced. I think it's the need to fit in with the other/more girly girls at preschool that has influenced her.

Anyway, I kept asking her if she was sure and she told me that it "will only hurt for a minute" and that "it's ok to cry a little." ( I think after the whole hospital thing, she knows what it means when something will "just hurt for a second" and that "it's ok to cry." She probably heard me say that numerous times.

Good job to Dave who was not only brave enough to take her to get it done, but to also take some pictures for me to always have. I was at work at the time and I think I was more stressed out about it than she was. She kept telling me, "mom, relax, it will only hurt for a minute."

So Dave took her to Claire's out at Village Point where there was only one person working at the time. (one ear at a time. :) Anyway, I had called around being the freak that I was being. YES....I was "shopping around" for the best "ear piercer." I know, I know. So I found this lady that has been with the company for eight years! Whew. ..you would have thought I was shopping around for a cardiac surgeon or something.

Anyway, Emma called when it was done and told me she was all done and that she got "red diamonds." I asked her if she cried and she gave me the I'm annoyed with you talking about it, "no, it didn't even hurt." followed by the "I gotta go, daddy is buying me ice cream."

So, I talked to Dave who confirmed that I was more of a chicken than she was. Nope, she didn't cry at all!!
Good thing I didn't go.....that's what dads are for.
Anyway, the red diamonds are gorgeous and she is thrilled to be just like "Abby" at preschool.

Get well soon!

This blog entry is dedicated to my auntie Stacy and Uncle Ted.

Sorry, Auntie and Uncle but tonight mom and I were playing Dora's house for the billionth time (atleast that's what mom says) and mom said we "needed some new material."

Pretty soon "mami" (Auntie) started to feel sick so she got sick in the toilet. (Atleast she made it to the toilet). Papi was watching her helplessly but didn't know what to do in the meantime.
(Don't worry auntie, I told my mom that if you weren't better tomorrow night, I would turn Diego's rescue center into a hospital and take you there to get you a water pack.)

As for you Papi (uncle Ted).....you also started to feel ill and YOU atleast made it to the toilet....good job to you! Emma has not offered to take you to the hospital so we are hoping you can fight it all off on your own. :)

Anyway, mom gets tired of the same old "ring the doorbell and come into the birthday party" game so that's why you guys got sick in the toilet. Sorry about that.

Hope you are feeling better really soon.............................................................if not, I would love to pretend tomorrow that you needed a water pack.

Love, your favorite neice EVER, EMMA S.

Some serious conversations!

It's certainly a good thing that my New Year's Resolution wasn't to post something everyday, because I would have already ruined that one...........That is why I don't make New Year's Resolutions.......cause it's too easy to fail?

Anyway, does everyone remember "Deep Thoughts with Jack Handy" from Saturday Night Live. Well tonight was "Deep Thoughts with Emma Spizzirri." :) She is a riot and it would be much more enjoyable to answer these deep thoughts if they didn't all relate to dying and God. Where are her Godparents to answer all of these serious/funny questions. I should have dropped her off tonight at their house and spent some more money at Kohls. :)

Anyway, before I go into tonight's discussion, here is a little discussion that her and I had the other day.
I think she was at preschool when Dave brought his deer home; all bloody and lying just a few feet from where her car seat sits. Yuck! Anyway, even if she would have been home, I don't think I would have showed her the bloody thing, although Dave probably would have being the proud hunter he is.....and the fact that he was leaving immediately to get it processed, thus sticking me with all of her questions. ANYWAY, I posted the pics on this blog and forgot that she loves to keep herself updated on everyone as much as I do. SO, the other day out of the blue she asks, "hey mom, what did daddy do with that reindeer he killed?"
First of all, it's kinda sad that she refers to him as a "reindeer" since we read so much this year about Santa and his beloved reindeer. Second, I probably should have a talk with my proud hunter because I'm not sure how she knew that "daddy killed it."

So I didn't know what to tell her. Buying some more time to think I said, "Let's ask daddy tomorrow?" and she quickly responded (almost as if she knew I was going to say that) "come on mom, just tell me." She knew I knew the answer to that silly question. So I said, "daddy took him to a man that is going to take the meat out of him to eat!" Next thing out of her mouth was "EEWW, I'm not eating blood!" When you think about it...it does kind of make you go EEWW! I think she has recovered from the thought of it because she just asked me tonight when "daddy is going to get that reindeer back."

So anyway, of course we prayed before we ate dinner and the whole God/dying conversation started when she quickly informed me that we don't have to pray to God to thank him for the food cause "he didn't make it."
Goodness! So we thanked God for allowing mom and dad to have jobs in order to make money to buy the food to eat. Goodness, she followed that explanation with "but mom, we're supposed to buy toys with the money." Never mind!

Then the whole "death" thing came up when she asked me if God could come over someday to babysit her and Lauren. (Sorry Katie, she must think that God would be more fun.) I hesitated and quietly mumbled, "yea, that would be great." Then she asked the famous question....."Where is God? Did he die already?" "Yes Emma, he died a long time ago" and she said, "Even before Grandpa was born" Yes Emma, believe it or not, God died even before Grandpa was born. (Sorry Grandpa!)

Next we had to review again all of our family members who "have gone before us." (Not that funny of a conversation.)

Emma then decided she was going to take charge and write a note to God to tell Him to "stop dying" and "come back." WHEW! by now I am too tired and so I am just giggling to myself. She said she needed a stamp to mail it and that God would check his mailbox and get it! Then she was worried that signing it "Emma S" would not tell God exactly who it was from, so I told her that He will know because he is always with us. OF COURSE she has a response to EVERYTHING, so she said, "oh yea, he has 'powers' like Santa does." (Kind of Em)
That sparked a whole new conversation.....(the same we had before Christmastime only that was about Santa.) She wanted to know if God can see her : in her bed, under the covers, at preschool, in the bathtub, when she is going to the bathroom, when she hides......and on and on and on.

So, she did in fact tear out a piece of paper and wrote God a very nice note to tell him not to die anymore. I told her that I would mail it tomorrow (because I want to save it of course.) and she said no that she was worried I would forget. Of course we put a stamp on it and wrote "to God from Emma" on the front of the envelope so the mailman knows what to do with it. I will mail it tomorrow!!!! Only one worry.....what if she expects a response like she got from Santa Claus!?! I'm not about to make God Emma's new "penpal."

Besides all of these deep thoughts, we are doing great! Everyone is healthy and have recovered from the holidays. I'm sure you all have read on Stacy's blog about the fabulous storage garage that we both want to marry! Yes, we love our garage and all the crap/stuff that we can fit into it!

That's it for tonight, I'm wore out!!!! Pink blogs are cool!

Happy New Year!

Happy 2007 and yippee for snow....FINALLY! We always welcome snow at our house and actually get "crabby" if we don't feel we get our share. I know, we're wierd. We had a very enjoyable new year's eve. Went to mom and dad's for a fabulous rib feast and dessert and then chex mix and a couple drinks.
As you can see, Emma had a terriffic night also. She wanted to sled down the little hill in mom and dad's backyard but then there's the walking up the hill part of it AND nobody really wanted to wear themselves out pulling her around on her sled.
So Dave tried this redneck type version of sledding but it was worth all the wierd stares that they may have gotten by people out and about. Emma had a blast and although I could hear her yelling and laughing, I could hear Dave yelling too. We barely talked her into coming in to eat before her and Dave were back outside under the street light doing it all again. We used all of grandpa's gas but he didn't mind.

A really big thank you to mom and dad who spent a few hours over here on New Year's Day babysitting the girls so Dave and I could have the opportunity to work a very good part time job together. We don't work a lot of part times but this is the one we try to "get hooked up with" every year. We went down to ConAgra and worked the fireworks show, which is always cold but a good show. We got home about 8:30, Lauren and Emma were both in bed YEAH! Thanks mom and dad!!

Well Preschool starts again, thank goodness a routine again!

We wish all of you a wonderful and peaceful 2007!!!
