Happy Thanksgiving!

Just a very quick post to wish all of our friends and family a very Happy Thanksgiving!!

I cannot quite get into the Christmas spirit until Thanksgiving is over BUT I did manage to bake about 10 dozen sugar/Christmas cookies tonight with my "free time." Oh yea, did I mention I am off work until December 17th atleast and maybe through Christmas if that runs into our "moving time."

Dave and I have been working our tails off at the house in a desperate attempt to get the basement done, or near done before we move in. Yesterday I painted and Dave finished the ceramic tile in the bathroom and "kitchenette" area. Today we spent the morning grouting all of it. I have learned many new skills lately and grouting is one that isn't too bad. We FINALLY got our driveway and walkway poured yesterday thanks to my persistent but polite husband.

We have been getting on our builder about getting it done before it gets too cold. The good thing is, is that this guy is SO easy to work with and flexible about what we want in our house. The bad thing is, is that he is SO nice that sometimes the subs take advantage of that. ANYWAY, Dave met with him Thursday morning to go over several things and found out that the "concrete guys" put us off AGAIN until what would be the day before Thanksgiving. So, Dave walked half a block from our house and found a crew that was finishing up another driveway and agreed to do ours next. :)

Emma is off the rest of the week therefore progress may be a little slow. Both of the girls don't find "visiting" the house much fun anymore. Maybe a new video on the portable DVD player will help. Dave's mom has had Lauren for the past two mornings so we could get a little done.

Hope everyone is well and ready to eat, eat, eat!!!
Happy Thanksgiving !!!

I know, I've been lazy!

Yes, I know, it's been almost two weeks since the last post. I'm sorry for the huge delay. We have been very busy and I have been spending my computer time searching for unique lighting fixtures etc.

We are shooting for the first week in December to be moving in BUT I have learned to not hold my breath on anything. Cabinets are installed and look perfect. The ceramic tile is in and the wood trim is going in now. The biggest frustration now is the lack of improvements outside. SUPPOSEDLY we should have a driveway by Friday, but I have heard this once before and it never happened. I am afraid we are quickly/or have already run out of time for the sprinkler system and sod. :( Maybe not but who knows. The exterior is all painted and looks pretty good.

Now our struggle is with lighting fixtures and faucets and whether they have to match or not. Who knew this part would be so difficult.

Therefore we are keeping busy with all of this.

The girls are fine too. Last Friday Dave and I went on a double date with Emma and her friend Colin from school. :) Just kidding! Actually Colin's mom called our house two weeks ago introducing herself and telling us that all Colin can talk about is getting together with Emma. So, she was brave enough to pick up the phone and call to set something up. We had a great time meeting eachother and the kids were thrilled to be "out" together. At one point we looked over while eating our pizza and the two of them were sharing his pop with both of them drinking from separate straws. Cute it was and Colin's mom even had to snap a picture on her cell phone. We met them for the first time that night so we had a nice time.

Today Emma told me that she has asked "Nick" to marry her and to her delight he has accepted. Who knows what that's all about. :) I would love to be a fly on the wall at school.

Speaking of school.....this week I am finishing up a two week homicide course and there is going to be a test on all of it on Friday. Yikes! I haven't studied for a test in ten years. Oh well!

Everything else is fine. I am having a mind block on anything else to write about and I have to decide on three things for Dave to tell the trim carpenter tomorrow so I must go in order to surf the internet a little more to get ideas.

Sorry for the delay.....I did get a new camera so will try to read how it works and take some pictures for the next post...

Happy Halloween.....two days late!

I know I've been slacking. Even Dave tells me that and he rarely "checks" the blog. So, here is a VERY short update.
Tons of news including that we had a fabulous Halloween which included a party at Emma's school and a parade. There were about 15 Hannah Montana's. (Emma was the only "scary" chicken....imagine that.)
We also had a blast Trick or Treating with two really cute monkeys.

The house is progressing. I will have to post a couple pics. hey started painting today and the cabinets should be done today. The ceramic tile is almost done too.

Oh yea and my camera is back. Well, not my camera but a better upgrade for the price of the repair. Instead of my 3 megapixels we now have a 6mp courtesy of Cannon. Yeah.

That's it for now....I got home late from work and are dying to see the paint color on the house (and a little scared).
